With four minutes gone Hitchin lost possession on their 10 m line , strong running and a few missed tackles allowed Park to score an unconverted try.
A penalty against Park for a high tackle led to a lineout on halfway, the ball went loose and was kicked deep into the home 22. Another penalty against Park was converted by Ben Wiggins to reduce the deficit to 5 – 3.
Shortly after another penalty by Ben Wiggins from roughly the same spot gave Hitchin the lead at 5-6.
Good pressure by Hitchin forced Finsbury Park to carry over their own line and from the subsequent scrum No8 Armel Baufume picked up and passed to Elliot Gibson to scorem Ben Wiggins converting.
Although Finsbury Park mounted several attacks the Hitchin defence stood firm and ended the half 10 metres out from the home side line but couldn’t beat Park’s strong defence.

A penalty against Hitchin reduced the deficit to 8-13 and following a period of strong pressure on their line, the Hitchin defence was finally breached when Finsbury Park spread the ball wide to dot down for a converted try.

The visitors finally got into the Finsbury Park 22, and were awarded a penalty under the posts, but the quick tap and go failed and the final whistle sounded.
