With both
sides needing the points, this turned out to be a very scrappy game seesawing
from end to end with neither side being able to build any continuity.
With a
quarter of the match gone a quickly taken penalty resulted in Sean McGinnity
crashing over for a try which Ben Wiggins converted.
A few
minutes later a penalty for holding on against Hitchin saw the ball bounce off
one upright and then the other to land harmlessly infield.
Pressure on
the Hitchin line finally told when Harrow spread the ball wide for their winger
to take advantage of poor marking, and score in the corner.
Just before
half time a neat kick through by Ben Wiggins was collected by Will Rooney to an
unconverted try.

score Harrow 5 Hitchin 12
Harrow drew
level with a converted try from their winger after ten minutes of the restart.
Having
survived a lot of pressure James Bolter, Will Evans and Will Rooney combined to
lift the siege resulting in Will Rooney getting his second try, converted by
Ben Wiggins.
Hitchin
finished the match strongly but were unable to add to their score to obtain a
bonus point. Whilst the pack held their own in the set pieces for most of the
game, too often opportunities were lost by poor handing in the backs
