John Drew writes :-

I am in the privileged position of announcing a great success for our Academy North Herts Lions. On Wednesday they took part in the finals of the London and South East including Eastern Counties Tens tournament.

10 teams took part split into 2 leagues of 5. We won our league games 4 from 4 and went on to win our semi 22 - 0. In the final we played the team we had beaten in our first game and lost 7 - 0.
What an achievement as there were a few Hitchin boys, Jamie Reed, Barry Crowe and Robert King, plus Rob French from Letchworth and Tom Mellor from Stevenage.
Even better we received 20 complimentary tickets for the England v Argentina match on the 11th. November where both finalist will be presented to the crowd and receive a presentation.
Congratulations to the entire squad who were ably coached by Mick Carey and Dave Marshall with support from Mark Tidey. They were kept in one piece by our own Marie Shaw.

Now that is what I call teamwork.

And there's more...

Whilst all this was going on we hosted a Tag Tournament for 16 local schools at the club and 3 injured college learners spent the afternoon refereeing their first games. Codicote won a sudden death final against Sandon also coached by Mick Carey.
