Please be aware that there are 6 teams in Pool 1 and 7 teams in Pool 3, but because the RFU continuum states that children of this age are only allowed to play a maximum number of minutes of rugby at a festival, teams have been randomly selected for the pool stages to ensure compliance.
Facilities
Refreshments including teas/coffees, burgers, bacon rolls, sweets, ice-creams and cold drinks will be available throughout the day. There will also be a photographic company taking team and individual photos for you to purchase.
Squad Sizes and Players
The maximum team size for each pool is 12. However, if this means that some children may be unable to participate, then approval can be granted by the organisers to include more players. All players must be registered with the RFU in order to play in the festival for insurance purposes. All children must have reached their 6th birthday to participate and all players must play in their correct age group. Teams will be provided with registration sheets which will include date of birth and RFU registration number. These details will be verified.
The Tournament
In both U7 and U8 age groups, there will be competitions for the A teams ( the County Cup) and the B/C/D teams (the County Plate). Each competition will divide the teams into pools. It is hoped to have most teams continue to play in finals, semi finals and play offs so that the children get to play as much rugby as possible.
Sportsmanship Award
The referees will be asked to award points in every match for a Sportsmanship Award in each competition. At the end of the day, the club in each age group who has been judged by the referees to have participated and behaved in the most sporting manner will be awarded this special trophy.
Car Parking
On the day of the Festival, a one-way traffic system is in operation at the club. Access in to the club will be restricted to the main club entrance via Langley Way and Conningesby Drive and the exit will be via Sun Sports and Social Club, Belmount Wood Avenue.
The routes will be clearly marked and marshaled and the system should allow people to come and go as is required during the day. Please remember, the club is sited in a residential area so please respect the access for the residents and be sensible.
