22/7/07 Annual cricket match blessed with sunshine and no showers.

The retiring U9's enjoyed a Sunday afternoon cricket match (Kids, Mums and Dads) in Ransomes Rec, with the Hitchin Hackers scoring 243. (Well, they had a 200 start under Kwik Cricket rules!) In reply, the Ransomes Reckers could only manage 235, with some outrageous sixes being undone by us getting out repeatedly. This was followed by an excellent Bar-b-q and a game of football-rugby-basketball, with the Dads and Girls thrashing the Boys.Roll on next season. I think they need to get back to real rugby, judging by the tackles that were going in! A shame the England cricketers couldn't take their final wicket, to win against India. Bad light ruining the chance to go 1-0 up.
