What a turnout!! What a day!

Initial estimates were that nearly 70 players turned out for the Open day. We are not sure if that was down to the leaflet drop round the schools, the good weather, the “inspirational” display from our national side or those who had heard Eric the previous week, had come along to see what all the noise was about! What was pleasing was the number of new U8’s, so if you brought along a new U8, a big thank you!
During the post training analysis (in the bar with a pint of Stella and burger) we have agreed that we should separate the training of the 8’s from the 7’s. We had always intended to separate the training of the 8’s and 7’s after the festival at Letchworth , however, with the 8’s champing at the bit to plays match’s we have brought forward the timings. With this in mind next weeks’ U8’s training will be based around the floodlight nearest the halfway line, with the U7’s based around the area we were this week.
With the open day behind us (new players are still welcome should anyone ask you), we are looking towards the Letchworth Festival. If you can let me have your availability for Sunday 30th September it would be much appreciated (start time 9.00 am finish approx 12.30, depending on how well we do). If you are reading this on the web site and have not received an email then I have either got a wrong email address or haven’t got one at all. If you can let me have one, using the email address on the website that would be good.
That just leaves me to make acknowledge a few people: Eric for his fantastic coaching, Chris and Mark for their assistance with the coaching, Jo and Julia for ferrying the new ones from the reception tent, Charles and Jonathan for their photography skills – I am hoping to load some photos onto the forum) and Tim and Mel for their coaching of the U6’s (already Mel is looking forward to coaching the U16’s !!!)
Just a reminder, please let Sam have your completed membership form (RFU forms will be needed going forward - 2 photos and the form filled in), don’t forget the Saracens V Gloucester match on the 23rd (tickets are still available - £18 per adult and child with additional adult tickets at £13 and child at £5) and that if you are thinking about going on tour then you will need to book soon (Jill will be giving more details after next weeks’ training).
