To quote Mr. Frisch “500% better than last week”!!! Praise indeed. Build on this lads and you’ll find that winning streak.
Compared to last week’s match against Datchworth we had 97% more ball in our lineouts – why? Practised set pieces from training. So it’s well worth turning up!! We had seven chances to score in this match that we messed up. Come to training, play as a team and those chances will turn into scores. Individual good play – sometimes excellent BUT IN ORDER TO WIN WE NEED TO MAKE SOME EFFORT TO PLAY AND TRAIN AS A TEAM.
The final score of course does not reflect some good play by the lads. Crunching tackles with impacts that could be heard around the pitch – thank you Tom Lawman and James Bolter; some solid defence moves; an excellent charge down by Sam Wilson and a brilliant catch by Andrew Thorpe in midfield – was that a look of panic that flitted across his face as the ball came down towards him??? There was an excellent run in by Jesse in the first half, only to be cheated of a score in the final meter. There were charging runs from Pat Hurst and Stewart MacIntosh, Dominic seemed to be everywhere and JP was solid in the forwards again.
Compared to last week’s match? Much improved. Hey ho! The team talk at the end of the match for the other side was basically “there you go lads if you work as a team you can win”. Heard that before? Their first win this season …..
Man of the match: Sam Rushbrook for some excellent all round play. Hard decision between Sam, Andrew and Pat. The latter two had a lucky escape since Sam had the joy of downing a pint in contest with London Scottish’s man of the match. Needless to say we won that contest again!!!!
