27 November 2007 (U7) Team News

A good training session on Sunday, and an excellent turnout for a late November morning. We continued to work on tagging and support play for the first part of the session and I was pleased with how the players performed. We then developed this further in some game situations and it was good to see some of the younger players playing some small-sided matches. The more experienced players finished the session with a training match, which ended 3-3 and there were some good skills shown during the match. Well done to all the players. Again a big thank you to all the parents that helped out during the session.

27 November 2007 (U8) Railway Rugby and a whole lot more….. 26 November 2007 (Second XV) Hitchin 2's 22 v Letchworth 2's 32

Local derbies can often be scrappy, ill-tempered affairs though this was anything but with flowing, attacking rugby (generally) the order of the day.

25 November 2007 (U17) Ealing U17 3 v Hitchin U17 10

'They'll Need Some Healing in Ealing'

It was a bright sunny morning when the Hitchin Under 17s arrived at
the Traiilfinder Sports Centre for their top of the table clash against
league leaders Ealing.

25 November 2007 (First XV) Hitchin 32 Old Millhillians 10

Hitchin won their third consecutive league match against difficult opposition Old Millhillians to climb to fifth position in the Herts/Middlesex League 1.

21 November 2007 (Club News) Teams Selected for Sat 24 Nov

The following teams have been selected for Sat 24 Nov.

Players are required to wear odd socks before and after the game, or make a £1 contribution to the tour fund.

20 November 2007 (Colts) Colts 12 – Hemel Hempstead 22

(Mr. Frisch wasn’t happy so his quote was unrepeatable!)
Well the Colts turned up ……. in body but not really in spirit. We arrived late, one of the lads looking decidedly green; there were a number of vacant positions due to illness and injuries and a number of very quiet souls … something to do with lack of sleep and various celebrations. Didn’t really bode well for the game.

20 November 2007 (U13) Stockwood U13s 0 – Hitchin U13s 39

Hitchin U13s recorded a morale boosting first win of the season at a cold and wind swept Stockwood Park

20 November 2007 (U11) U11s - Cambridge at home - match report 18 Nov 07

We have always had close matches with Cambridge so the convincing manner of our performance suggests that Hitchin U11’s really have made good progress this season. Also on such a bitterly cold day it became clear why tackling hard is so important in rugby not only because passing and catching was so hard but also to keep yourself warm!

20 November 2007 (U8) U8's Match Report Sunday

I said the "Blues" were coming, however they turned out to be yellow and red, but we all turned blue with the cold!

19 November 2007 (U12) Hitchin U12s v Cambridge 18th November

We welcomed a large Cambridge squad to King George V Fields on a bitterly cold morning.

19 November 2007 (U7) Team News

Training
This week, Sunday 25th November there is training at the club at the usual time 10.30am.

Fixtures
The following two weeks we have fixtures against Hemel on Sunday 2nd December (Home) and Leighton Buzzard on Sunday 9th December (Away). Due to the large size of our squad the club have been trying to find some additional fixtures for us and I am pleased to confirm we have a second fixture arranged on Sunday 9th December at Stockwood Park.

I am now planning for the forthcoming fixtures and need to know by Monday 26th November about players availability for these fixtures. Please advise me as soon as possible.

19 November 2007 (U7) Cambridge Match Report

Sunday we hosted Cambridge on a cold, windy November morning, thankfully there was no rain !!!! We had a successful morning, playing 3 matches, winning 2 and drawing the other. As Cambridge only had the one team we had a triangular event, with our two teams playing Cambridge twice (well that was the plan !!!). Unfortunately, Cambridge had to leave early so the Jaguars did not get to play their second game, instead we had a training match to finish the morning.

18 November 2007 (U10) Cambridge visit chilly Hitchin

Cambridge brought a mixed development/A team squad on a bitterly cold morning and gave us 2 good games before retreating back home for warmth. Hitchin fared well, but could not gain a win. Here are the details:-

18 November 2007 (U17) Stevenage U17 15 v Hitchin U17 36

Hitchin arrived at Stevenage aware that this was a tester for the league game to come later in the season. As always we receive a warm welcome. With Will Anderson still suffering from a calf injury he was the only player missing from last week.

14 November 2007 (U8) The Blues are on their way.....

Cambridge not Chelsea..

13 November 2007 (U7) Team News

It was back to training on Sunday after the last two weekends of fixtures and it was great to see the continued high turnout with over 40 players again. We looked at some specific areas in the session, which were tagging and support play and I was pleased with how the morning progressed. A big thank you to Adrian, Rob, Jez, Gordon and Martin, who helped out during the session.

13 November 2007 (First XV) Old Actonians 15 Hitchin 23

After their first league win last week, Hitchin were looking forward to their game against second in the league Old Actonians. With Hitchin's new found form and OA's 3 wins from 4 games the scene looked set for a titanic clash

11 November 2007 (U17) Hitchin U17 27 v Tring U17 19

Hitchin went into this game unbeaten and feeling confident, but it quickly became apparent that Tring were a very well organised side with a strong forward pack and useful backs.

07 November 2007 (Club News) Teams Selected for Sat 10 November

The following sides have been selected for Sat 10th Nov.

Once again, will players please confirm via the web by Thursday, or phone Chris Jones [07757 357986]

06 November 2007 (U7) Ampthill Match Report

A long, but enjoyable morning this Sunday for players, coaches and parents. We travelled to Ampthill with two teams, played a total of 7 matches and did not finish until 12.30pm – I don’t know about the players but I was exhausted!!! Ampthill had enough players to field three teams so the Panthers played three matches against their experienced team and the Jaguars played a small triangular tournament of four matches against their two remaining teams.

06 November 2007 (U10) Ampthill Mobbed.

Hitchin U10’s V the Ant Hill Mob

06 November 2007 (Colts) Hitchin 10 – Hertford 34

Mr. Frisch’s quote of the week: “They (the Colts) were playing from underground. Now they’re playing above ground. Soon they’ll be ready for take off.”
(He has a way with words!)

06 November 2007 (U11) U11s at Ampthill - match report 4 Nov 07

A really satisfying day all round and excellent preparation for the rest of the season, where against perhaps one of the best organised and certainly the biggest opposition we have ever faced, we won two and drew the third. We also took the bonus chance to experiment with team positions, and to top it all the weather was glorious (with free cups of tea laid on by our generous hosts.....

06 November 2007 (First XV) Hitchin 40 V Old Abbotstonians 10

Hitchin find their form to secure convincing win over Old Abbotstonians. Both teams started well, and after the first 10mins had each claimed 3 points from infringements in front of the posts.

05 November 2007 (U12) U12s v Ampthill, 4th Nov.

On a glorious autumnal day we travelled to Ampthill with no little trepidation, a bit of local knowledge suggesting we were in for a tough time. What we saw was one of the best games of rugby played by this group of players, and a willingness on the part of both teams to stick to it and play with pride. If we take any loss with the spirit and camaraderie that we did at Ampthill, then the winning will feel all the sweeter

05 November 2007 (U15) Hitchin 19 Ealing "B" 20

Our second league game of the season was a real heart stopper. Hitchin were

confident after winning their las two matches and went into this game with great expectations.

05 November 2007 (U15) Sunday 28/10 (Friendly match)Hitchin 42 Dunstablians 10

Dunstablians arrived with 10 players and we had 16 so we played 13 a side after lending them some bodies. Hitchin started strongly and Rowan M went clear to score his first of the day.

05 November 2007 (U8) The Beautiful Game, Played on a Beautiful Pitch, on a Beautiful Day!

Almost enough to make you want to become a poet!

02 November 2007 (First XV) 1st & 2nd teams for Sat

The following have been selected for the 1st & 2nd team.... please be aware that the 4th team match is OFF

01 November 2007 (U8) U8's Teams for Sunday 01 November 2007 (Colts) Colts 10 – St. Evenage 0

Oh yes !!! (Mr. Frisch’s quote of the week “ugly rugby gets results”)
The lads duly arrived having gained an extra hour of sleep – not that you could tell. On a cold and windy day they took to the field kicking off into the wind and immediately gave away a penalty
