After their first league win last week, Hitchin were looking forward to their game against second in the league Old Actonians. With Hitchin's new found form and OA's 3 wins from 4 games the scene looked set for a titanic clash

OA's kicked off to Hitchin who secured the ball and cleared their lines. OA's made the most of the breeze by kicking Hitchin back into their 22 and gained 3 points from a drop goal. Hitchin couldn't be contained and soon were camped in the home sides 22. Hitchin repeatedly tested the defence but couldn't get through. An infringement from OAs saw Mick Jones bring the sides level.

From the Kick off OA's got to the Hitchin 22. A well-worked centres move saw No 13 make the most of a dazed flanker to scythe through and score. Hitchin increased intensity and where once again entrenched in the opposition 22. Twice the OA's defence was stretched out wide, but an unlucky bounce and good scramble defense left Hitchin without a try.

OA's made use of the wind cleared their lines, and an unlucky charged down kick gifted OA's a try and saw Hitchin 15-3 down.

Hitchin came back with the bit between their teeth. A break down the wing by James "pumba" Drury saw Hitchin once again in the OA's 22. After hammering the defence with strong runs from senior veteran Doug Brooker and Man of the Match Simon Banner. Jimmy Scott offloaded to Captain Carwyn Morgan for a foot race to the corner. More pressure form the Kick off saw Hitchin rewarded with a penalty in front of the posts duly converted by Jones.

Half time saw the visitors trailing 11-15, however the game seemed to be taking its toll on the home side. Hitchin sensed this and started the half with confidence. A break through the middle by Chris Davies set up Jimmy Scott to score. With OA's behind for the first time alarm bells started to ring. Vinnie Kevans answered a high ball with one of his own and clattered his opposite man. The ball spilled loose and Chris Davies coaxed it over the line. The conversion by Jones put Hitchin 8 pts clear with 10mins to go. Phenomenal defence from Hitchin kept OA's out and saw Hitchin secure their second league win, to lift them to seventh place in the table
