Sunday 28/10 (Friendly match)Hitchin 42 Dunstablians 10

« The Beautiful Game, Played on a Beautiful Pitch, on a Beautiful Day! | Main | Hitchin 19 Ealing "B" 20 »

Dunstablians arrived with 10 players and we had 16 so we played 13 a side after lending them some bodies. Hitchin started strongly and Rowan M went clear to score his first of the day.

Hitchin then ran in a procession of tries with Rowan scoring his second & third with Steven M scoring in between

and then scoring two more before the break. So six tries before half time &

one conversion, 32 - 0. Hitchin had played a blinder in the opening half showing how they can scrummage & ruck. They even managed to pass the ball!!!.

The second half started a bit differently and Hitchin didn't have it all their own way. Dunstable scored but did not convert, then Aleks B broke through the centre of the field and stormed all the way to the try line.
Dunstable then scored again but didn't convert. Hitchin finished the scoring with a fantastic try from debutant Josh W. The ball was kicked from

infield over the Dunstablians try line. They made a hash of catching the ball and Josh had the presence of mind to carry on chasing the ball, as Dunstablians fumbled Josh pounced on the loose ball to score. Just goes to show, n ever give up the chase, you don't know what'll happen.
