A good training session on Sunday, and an excellent turnout for a late November morning. We continued to work on tagging and support play for the first part of the session and I was pleased with how the players performed. We then developed this further in some game situations and it was good to see some of the younger players playing some small-sided matches. The more experienced players finished the session with a training match, which ended 3-3 and there were some good skills shown during the match. Well done to all the players. Again a big thank you to all the parents that helped out during the session.
‘Player of the Week’ went to one of our younger players this week, so congratulations goes to Cameron Maxwell. Cameron has been one of our regulars at training throughout the season and he always listens and pays attention during the sessions. This week he did particularly well in the tagging and support drills in the first part of the session and I was pleased with how he performed against some of the experienced players. He also showed some good passing skills and did well in the small-sided games the younger players did at the end of the morning. Well done Cameron, keep up the good work.
For the next two weeks we have fixtures against Hemel on 2nd December and on the 9th December we have two fixtures in place against Leighton Buzzard and Stockwood Park. As mentioned on Sunday I am unable to play all players both weeks, but each player will play in a least one of the fixtures.
Sunday 2nd December
Next Sunday we have a home fixture against Hemel. The following players have been selected for this fixture: -
Alex Baber-Norris, Ethan Brace, Connor Dudley, Rory Fookes, Sam Henshaw, Daniel Hill, Chris Holes, Guy Honnywill, Harry Hughes, George Lanyon, Ethan Lavaille, Ben Lowes, Euan Metcalfe, Gregory Oram-Brown, Holly Pomfret, Emilia Reece-Jones, Naomh Taylor and Henry Tucker.
We will have two teams for this fixture and the teams will be announced on Sunday morning. Can all players be at the club for 10.00am. For those players who have not played matches before, players will need to be in full Hitchin kit (Hitchin jersey, black shorts & maroon socks), gum shields and shin guards are also recommended. Please note players who have unfortunately not been selected for this fixture will be involved in the matches the following week.
Sunday 9th December
We have two fixtures arranged for this date; at Leighton Buzzard (with the rest of the minis) and at Stockwood Park (this is a triangular fixture with Bedford). The plan for the morning will be for Adrian Pomfret (Holly’s dad) to take the team to Leighton Buzzard and I will take a team to Stockwood Park. The teams for these fixtures will be selected and posted on the website next week.
Sunday 16th December
As mentioned on Sunday, our final training session before the Christmas break will be Sunday 16th December. On this day I would like to arrange a series of games / matches within the U7 age group involving all players, even the U6 players who have not played in fixtures to date. We will mix up the experienced and less experienced players into teams and play a number of 5 or 7 a side matches during the morning and see which team comes out on top!!!!
It will be a bit of fun, but more importantly it will enable some of our younger players to play their first games and get a better understanding on what is involved in playing matches. Players of this age learn more by playing in games and we will be incorporating more of this in our sessions come January. In order to plan the session I need to know which players will be attending, therefore could you please let me know by Monday 10 December if you intend to be at the session on Sunday 16th December. Due to the large number of players we have I will also require some parental help during the session supervising the teams. If any parents would like to help please let me know.
Training
Unfortunately there will be no training at the club on Sunday 2nd December as we have a home game. I am hoping to run a training session on Sunday 9th December, but this is still to be confirmed. Please check the website next week.
See you on Sunday.
