19 December 2007 (U7) Team News
An excellent final training session on Sunday and thankfully the weather was considerably better than the last few weeks. We put together our own little U7’s festival with six teams playing each other in a round robin basis. All the players participated even the younger U6 players and it was a thoroughly enjoyable morning. Well done to all the players for their commitment and effort during the morning and I hope you all enjoyed yourselves. Congratulations go to the CHEETAHS who came out on top – they were unbeaten during the morning, winning 3 and drawing 2 of their five matches, although the PANTHERS pushed them close and only missed out in the last match. Thanks to Adrian and Tom for referring the matches with me and also thanks to Jez, Brian, Gordon, Martin, Glyn & Andy who helped run the teams. It was a great way to round off the first half of the season!!!!
19 December 2007 (Club News) Teams Selected for Sat 22 Dec

18 December 2007 (U11) U11s - Datchworth at home* - match report 16 Dec 07
How prophetic Alex's cheery morning greeting was: "We won't know how to function if it's not raining!!" After the hardships of the previous two weeks, we had almost perfect conditions. Unfortunately our players seemed to be suckered by this and took their foot off the pedal, going down twice to a very evenly matched Datchworth team.

Old Sods dinner will be held on Friday 1 February 2008.
12 December 2007 (U15) Hertford "B" 10 - Hitchin 24 (League Game)
For the second week running Hitchin overcame atrocious weather conditions to
secure victory. This time Hertford were put to the sword in the league.
Things started badly when Hitchin only had 14 players five minutes before kick off but were fortunate enough to start with a full 15!!!

11 December 2007 (U12) Hitchin U12s 42 - 21 Stockwood Park U12s
Whilst we had anticipated a trip to Leighton Buzzard they called off at short notice, being concerned we might get mud on our kit. Three cheers then for Stockwood Park who invited us over to Luton for a morning of wind, freezing rain and much good entertainment and banter. It also looked like they had a few giants of their own, so perhaps it was as well that they were short handed.
11 December 2007 (U11) U11s at Stockwood Park - match report 9 Dec 07
Another week, another truly dreadful storm but just like the weather our first team carried on from the previous week with some enterprising play against our hosts. But after another long cold, wet morning, and despite a brief rally against Bedford, the fire was doused and so we disappointingly lost the second match.
11 December 2007 (U7) Stockwood Park Match Report
What a morning!!!! The Leighton Buzzard game was cancelled due to a waterlogged pitch, so we took two teams over to Stockwood Park. The rain from the week continued and the pitch became virtually unplayable, but we battled on. Joining us at Stockwood Park were also Bedford so it meant each of our teams would get two matches, however things never go according to plan……. Half way through the morning Stockwood Park decided they only wanted to play one match against our teams, but we managed to get another match arranged for the Panthers against Bedford. Considering the conditions we played some excellent rugby, won three matches and narrowly lost the other.
11 December 2007 (U10) "We're Winning In The Rain, Just Winning In The Rain............"

10 December 2007 (U8) U8's at Stockwood Park
The sun was shining until we got to Stockwood Park….
09 December 2007 (U17) Grasshoppers U17 18 v Hitchin U17 15
Hitchin arrived at Grasshoppers after the long wet drive keen to get on with what was to be a tough test against top of the table opponents. Both sides unbeaten in the league to this point there was a lot at stake.

from your local correspondent Ray Suitters
Don’t forget to sell your draw tickets and return money and stubs before the 16th of December – your club needs you!
I apologise from the start about this soccer analogy, but Sunday morning certainly saw a game of two halves! And showed the best sides of our game and how we have grown.

04 December 2007 (U11) U11s - Hemel Hempstead at home - match report 2 Dec 07
In spite of the most atrocious weather of the winter so far, the team seemed intent on playing summer rugby – passing and running on to the ball at speed and with some fair degree of precision. In the first half at least this was on the back of total domination of the contact area backed up by determined tackling by the whole team.
04 December 2007 (U15) Hitchin 62 St. Neots 0
St. Neots arrived at Hitchin in the pouring rain for the high noon kick off with some rather large players who may or may not looked like U15s. It appeared that Hitchin may not have it all their own way after beating them home & away last season. How wrong you can be with your initial thoughts...
04 December 2007 (U8) May be it should rain every week!
If the rain brings performances like Sunday, may it rain every week!
04 December 2007 (U7) Team News
SUNDAY 9TH DECEMBER
This week, Sunday 9th December we have two fixtures at Stockwood Park and Leighton Buzzard. The teams for these fixtures are listed below; Adrian Pomfret (Holly’s dad) will be taking the team to Leighton Buzzard and I will be taking a team to Stockwood Park.
Can all players please meet at Stockwood Park and Leighton Buzzard at 10.00am. For those players who have not played matches before, players will need to be in full Hitchin kit (Hitchin jersey, black shorts & maroon socks), gum shields and shin guards are also recommended.
04 December 2007 (U7) Hemel Match Report
Well, I hope you have all dried out! What a morning, the wind, the rain, the muddy pitches, but two excellent performances by the Panthers and Jaguars. Hemel visited this Sunday with the hope of bringing two teams but unfortunately they only had enough players for the one side. Therefore each team had a game against Hemel and we then had a small training game after Hemel had left before the novelty of the rain ran off!!!
04 December 2007 (Club News) Hitchin Rugby Club mourn the death of Maggie Chapman
Maggie Chapman, wife of long time member Brian (BAJ0 Chapman passed away on Thursday 22nd. November whilst in the hospital Intensive Care unit.
03 December 2007 (U12) Hitchin U12s v Hemel Hempstead
Another cold and wet morning with driving rain making it uncomfortable for everyone. Hemel had a squad of 14, so we played just one match and made seven substitutions to give everyone some game-time.
02 December 2007 (U10) Excalibur! U10’s play 2 and win 2. Scores are 8-0 and 9-0!
Camelot (Hemel Hempstead) U10’s go home empty handed.
