| U11s - Hemel Hempstead at home - match report 2 Dec 07 »
St. Neots arrived at Hitchin in the pouring rain for the high noon kick off with some rather large players who may or may not looked like U15s. It appeared that Hitchin may not have it all their own way after beating them home & away last season. How wrong you can be with your initial thoughts...
To start with the scoring went like this...
Tries - Ryan C Conversions - Andrew M
- Steven M Andrew
M
- Sebastian DT -
- Max
-
- Christie G Andrew
M
Half Time 31 - 0
- Steven M -
- Antony G Andrew
M
- Ryan C Andrew
M
- Max C -
- Max C
Andrew M
Full Time 62 - 0
This was a good performance, but not their best this season, by the Hitchin side in atrocious conditions of driving rain and howling gales. Hitchin started well and open the scoring within the first 90 seconds & within three
minutes were already 14 - 0 up. This appeared to demoralise the St. Neots side and Hitchin then stormed into a
24 - 0 nil lead. This was with the wind behind them in the first half. St.
Neots and their large pack really never troubled Hitchin in the scrum with Ryan C winning several against the head however they were being out mauled by the opposition. Hitchin again scored and converted just on half time to make it 31 - 0.
The second came with the wind in Hitchin's faces and maybe some hope for St.
Neots. Hitchin were having none of it and soon scored two more tries in quick succession. St. Neots, to their credit carried on bravely to the final whistle, but did not really provide a threat to the Hitchin try line.
Three more tries with conversions followed to make the final score 62 - 0 to
Hitchin. By this time the sun had come out to shine down on the righteous.
Special mentions go to Seb DT & Antony G for their first tries for the team,
Christie G for his try & being a monster. Ryan C & Steven M for scoring 2 each and to Max C for his hat trick. (Surely there's going to be a few jugs
soon).
Extra special mention goes to Andrew M for kicking six out of ten conversions in appalling conditions. Especially the final one out on the touchline against the wind. Watch out Jonny!!!!
well done all.
Simon, Peter & Chris
There will be training on Wednesday from 6.30 to 7.30.
