« Thank You to our sponsors for The Odd Shaped Ball | Main | U8’s back to winning ways…. »

Hitchin 2nd XV traveled to Barcelona for a very physical Greene King Super Premiere Merit table game against Poblenou Enginyers.

After leaving Hitchin at 5.00 a.m. the team put up a spirited first half display keeping a clean sheet and pressing the opposition for 10 minutes before finally being broken down by a very strong Spanish back-line. Hitchin lost the first half 31-0 (5 tries, 3 conversions) before changing tactics in the 2nd half and using their powerful pack to pressurize their hosts and allowing Dermot Coughlan the chance to score a blistering try, converted by Tom Hobbs from the touch line The visitors continued to press the home side, but had to move to uncontested scrums, and losing their advantage, conceded three tries in the last 15 minutes to end the game trailing 51 – 7.
Other result:
Sangria boat race:: Hitchin 2 - Poblenou Enginyers nil

We hear that he Enginyers had a fire on Sunday morning and there was quite a lot of damage to their office and Club room. We have corresponded with Phil
