| Teams Selected for Sat 8 March »
A good training session on Sunday as we focused on playing some small sided games and worked on some specific areas throughout the morning. The more experienced players concentrated on defence and stopping teams scoring, whilst the less experienced players developed their passing and support play. It was a very good morning and I was pleased with the improvement in the groups during the session.
Congratulations goes to Joshua Platt who won the ‘Player of the Week’ award. Joshua is one of our young U6 players and I was particularly pleased with his efforts throughout the whole session. He was concentrating during the specific drills we were working on and listening to the points Jez and myself were making. I was impressed with his strong running and support playing during the small sided games and it is clear he is starting to get a better understanding of what happens during matches.
Sunday 9th March
This week, Sunday 9th March we have a home fixture against Leighton Buzzard. We will be fielding three teams for this fixture can all players be at the club by 10.00am. Leighton Buzzard will be bringing two teams with them, an experienced team and a young less experienced team. The plan will be for our Panthers & Jaguars to play a set of triangular fixtures with their experienced side and our Leopards will have some matches against their young less experienced side. The teams have been selected below; for those players playing their first games for the club you will need to be in Hitchin kit with boots and gum shields. As we will have more players this week can I ask all players to meet at the club promptly, so we can have a good warm up and preparation before the matches start at 10.30am.

Training
Please note there will be no training at the club for the next few weeks as we have fixtures planned. Our next training session will be Sunday 6th April.
Home Fixture Sunday 30th March
Our next home fixture is on Sunday 30th March against Royston. As previously mentioned I would like to also field three teams for this fixture, so if you would like to play in this fixture and have not already advised me about your availability please let me know if you can play. As we aim to have three teams, this fixture is also open to our younger U6 players.
End of Season Festivals
We have three end of season festivals on the 16th March at Cambridge, 13th April at Tring and the 27th April at St. Neots. If you have not advised me about your availability for these dates please do so as soon as possible.
Note for U6 players: On the 13th April and 27th April we also have fixtures planned against Dunstable and Letchworth. As we have such a large squad it would be good if we could also fulfill these fixtures and field one or two teams. These fixtures will also be open to our younger U6 players, as it would be a good experience for them to be involved in some fixtures prior to next season. If any of our younger U6 players would like to be involved in these fixtures against Dunstable and Letchworth, please let me know. All players wishing to take part in any fixtures must be 6 years old to play and must be registered with the club.
Next Season
As mentioned at the end of training on Sunday the club is looking for some U7 coaches and helpers for next season. We have had an excellent turnout with our younger players this year and it has been great to see their enthusiasm and also improvement through the season. We have a core of around 20 players who will still be eligible for the U7’s next year and I am sure they will be keen to carry on playing as they look as though they have enjoyed themselves this year. We are looking for any parent volunteers who would like to get more involved next season. If you are interested in getting involved please let me know.
See you on Sunday.
