« Training still on | Main | Teams Selected for Sat 12 April »

A big well done to all the players, parents and coaches that braved the snow on Sunday at training, it was a good session and very worthwhile as we worked on final preparations for the County Festival. We had a number of short duration training matches between the Panthers & Jaguars and I was pleased with the all the players performance and efforts through the morning. The matches were close and both teams improved as the morning went on, although the Jaguars tired slightly in the last match. We even found a way of stopping the players running backwards!! The remaining members of the squad worked on some passing & support play and had some small sided matches.

Congratulations goes to Naomh Taylor who won the ‘Player of the Week’ award. I was very impressed with Naomh’s performance in the training matches this week. She was the only Panther player to play in all the matches and showed a great amount of energy and effort throughout the morning. There was some very good running and support play and she scored a number of tries, but I was particularly impressed with Naomh’s defence. This is an area of her play that I have seen improve over the past few weeks and she did some excellent tagging during the matches today. Well done Naomh, can I ask you to play as well this week at the festival please!!

Sunday 13th April

This Sunday we have the County Festival at Tring. We will be taking two teams to this festival (teams were posted on the website last week). Can I ask all players to meet at Tring promptly at 9.30am. The festival starts at 10.00, with the Jaguars first game at 10.15 and the Panthers first game at 10.30 (see email with further details and arrangements for the festival).

PLEASE NOTE: The fixture at Dunstable on 13th April has unfortunately been cancelled. For those players not involved in the festival there is no training at the club this week.

Sunday 20th April

There is nothing planned in the fixture list for Sunday 20th April. Therefore I have decided to run our own mini festival within the U7 age group on this morning (like I arranged before Christmas). All players are welcome to take part including the younger players from the U6 age group. We will mix up the experienced and less experienced players into teams and play a number of 5 or 7 a side matches during the morning and see which team comes out on top!!!!

IMPORTANT NOTE: To organise this session I need to know in advance which players will be attending. If any player would like to take part in this event on the 20th April (and you have not advised me to date), please can you let me know by Monday 14th April as the teams will be selected next week.

For the remaining two weekends of the season we have the St. Neots Festival & Letchworth home game on Sunday 27th April (we will have enough players to fulfil both these fixtures) and the Club End of Season BBQ & Presentation of Awards on Sunday 4th May. Further details about these two weekends will be posted on the website next week.
