May 1, 2008 U12s Runners-up at St Neots Festival
What a cracking day out – a superbly run and organized festival of magnificent proportions on the same windswept plateau that we have visited so often over the last few years. In pitting ourselves against new teams of an unknown quality the U12’s distinguished themselves yet again, their dogged determination and conviction taking us through to our second festival final of the season.

April 22, 2008 Herts Festival - U12 Cup
A great day out, tremendous spirit and courage from all the players and a privilege for the parents to see what a strong and united bunch of players the U12’s have become.
March 12, 2008 U12s v Leighton Buzzard Sunday 9th March 2008
A tremendous morning of well contested rugby, with no quarter asked or given, and where ultimately the honours were even across both games.
February 25, 2008 U12s v Datchworth & Welwyn
Thanks to Mike for the match report and reminiscences.
It was always going to be a tough morning with several key players away on holiday or with exotic excuses such as damaged finger ligaments, dislocated collarbone, broken toe or a bizarre collision with a hockey stick! It was therefore good to see the rest of the squad rise to the occasion and work so well together as a team.
February 20, 2008 U12s v OAs & Watford
A mixed day – some good rugby against the weaker opposition but a reality check against OA’s A team and it’s this we should measure ourselves against.
January 29, 2008 U12s v Chess Valley, 27th Jan
Nice folk, the team from Chess Valley, as befits a team who train and play by the magical River Chess, one of the ancient trout streams of England, in which your scribe has been known to have a dangle in times gone by.
January 16, 2008 U12s v Luton & Northampton Casuals
If you have trouble reading this report then you’re just going to have to SHOUT. What with the cars, planes, cancerous zinging of the pylons and howling wind at Luton, it was hardly any relief that it wasn’t hacking down with rain as well.
Then with having to play on a football training pitch it was no wonder some of the guys got a bit soft round the edges, with those negative vibes coming out of the ground – evidently we also mistook Sunday morning for Wednesday night, the cones and lack of markings causing a disorientation that definitely showed in the results.
January 8, 2008 U12's at St Neots
A visit to the freezing fenland outpost of St Neots saw us improve on the 2007 result (Won one, Lost one) and return to Hitchin with the bragging rights.
All good stuff, and having blown the cobwebs away we can look forward to the challenge of Luton and Northampton next Sunday.
December 11, 2007 Hitchin U12s 42 - 21 Stockwood Park U12s
Whilst we had anticipated a trip to Leighton Buzzard they called off at short notice, being concerned we might get mud on our kit. Three cheers then for Stockwood Park who invited us over to Luton for a morning of wind, freezing rain and much good entertainment and banter. It also looked like they had a few giants of their own, so perhaps it was as well that they were short handed.
December 3, 2007 Hitchin U12s v Hemel Hempstead
Another cold and wet morning with driving rain making it uncomfortable for everyone. Hemel had a squad of 14, so we played just one match and made seven substitutions to give everyone some game-time.
November 19, 2007 Hitchin U12s v Cambridge 18th November
We welcomed a large Cambridge squad to King George V Fields on a bitterly cold morning.
November 5, 2007 U12s v Ampthill, 4th Nov.
On a glorious autumnal day we travelled to Ampthill with no little trepidation, a bit of local knowledge suggesting we were in for a tough time. What we saw was one of the best games of rugby played by this group of players, and a willingness on the part of both teams to stick to it and play with pride. If we take any loss with the spirit and camaraderie that we did at Ampthill, then the winning will feel all the sweeter
October 30, 2007 Honours even for U12s
Our first home match of the season gave us the opportunity to play two games against a good St Neots’ squad of 14. The first game was for our strongest side while the second gave our less experienced players a good run out and allowed others to try new positions.
October 7, 2007 Hitchin U12s v Kettering and Milton Keynes
Mixed results on a morning that highlighted some areas for improvement.
September 30, 2007 Victorious 12s at Letchworth.
A fantastic start to the season building on the form we showed towards the end of last year. The teamwork and commitment were outstanding with everyone contributing to their well-deserved festival victory.
September 23, 2007 Letchworth Festival 30th September
After four good training sessions the season gets off to a good start at Letchworth's Festival where we will also play Datchworth, Stevenage and Royston.
