Hitchin were very keen to see off a good season with a win. Talk before the match was based on how we can improve for next season and this match against strong opposition would be a good start.

Hitchin were well aware that this was going to be the toughest game of the season so far. Harpenden having won league 1.

The Datchworth fixture last year was a well contested match. Hitchin knew they had improved and this was going to be a good test of how far they have come this year.

Saracens are running a 2 day camp at Hitchin RFC from Weds 4th and Thur 5th April 2007. The Camp will provide a fun and enjoyable environment for young players to develop their game.

A pitch inspection was required before the match and the referee decided that the pitch was playable. It was clear to Hitchin that the game was going to be a tough one. Fullerians were top of the league at the start of this match and had performed well throughout the season

Hitchin arrived at Stevenage prepared for a tough battle in this county cup match. A few weeks earlier Hitchin had travelled to Stevenage with only 13 players and had lost 19 - 17.

The Club has tickets available for the next Saracens Home game on 18th February against Gloucester, this is a major game in the League with Saracens in 5th and Gloucester in 3rd place in the Premiership.

A perfect day for rugby presented Hitchin with the opportunity to secure a place in the league. Harrow arrived early and appeared up for the game.

Josh on his return to his old club was chosen to captain the side and during the toss he was asked to choose which end of the pitch he wanted. Josh replied “doesn’t matter” to the referee. Like it !.

Five of this season’s successful Hertfordshire Under 16s have been included in the England development squad that will meet at the end of January.

I was looking forward to this game having been involved with the club for a little over a year and not yet played Stevenage. There was disappointment that we arrived with only 13 players, but this was soon quelled when Jack turned up

A great morning for rugby - bright and no wind. The game kicked off at 11:05 am and the referee was very clear on the kind of game he wanted. Hitchin had great preparation for this game, arrived early with plenty of time to warm up and run through plays.

October 16, 2006 Hitchin U16 49 v Ealing U16 5
A late kick-off for the U16’s meant that most of the players had a good lie-in. By 12:30pm they were ready for the game. It was clear from the pre-match routine that the Hitchin team were up for this game, with one loss in the league and an emphatic win outside the league, it was a great opportunity to put down a marker.
October 9, 2006 Hitchin U16 14 v Hemel U16 17
Unfortunately this game was abandoned due to what appeared to be a serious injury to a Hemel player which required hospital treatment, he was released and was seen back at Hemel in the afternoonon crutches, we hope his recovery is short and is soon back playing rugby.
October 2, 2006 Hitchin U16 85 v Royston U16 0
Hitchin's U16's lined up to face a Royston team that arrived early and appeared keen. The 11 players for the U16's squad were switched on both mentally and physically. Amos approached the U15's coach to ask for help and Paul and Freddy came running over keen to help us out. Then I have to announce to the lads that we can only field 13 players, including the two from the U15's, I won't print the reaction from those that were present
September 25, 2006 Bishop Stortford 15 v Hitchin 7
Hitchin U16's arrived at Bishop Stortford (B/S) for the first time in a few years and were well aware that this would be a challenge. B/S have a reputation as being a competent side with strong links to the school and so we expected a tough challenge.

It was good to see so many of you at Training on Sunday, just need to encourage those 3 or 4 still missing to come along. Just remember you have had it easy the last couple of sessions, Jim is back on Tuesday.
Welcome to Matt who has now been with us for a couple of sessions and seems to be settling in well, it is really pleasing to see you all making him welcome.
August 3, 2006 Tuesday Training
Tuesday training will begin on the 15th August at 7.00pm
Attendence of summer training has been good, lets make Tuesday training excellent.
It is not long to the start of the season and our first match is against Bishop Stortford in the league, so we need to hit the ground running.
July 6, 2006 New Players
Hitchin Under 16's need some more players, anyone interested come along on a Sunday morning at 10.30 and meet the team, training is taking place every Sunday, and at the start of August every Tuesday evening at 7.00 pm. Players of any ability welcome as we have coaches to assist in raising the skills levels. This is a successful squad having won the County 10's, been losing finalist and losing semi-finalist in the last 3 years, and had 7 players in various County squads.
