Bishops Stortford 7-41 Hitchin
Great start to the season with some new and old faces putting in performances.
After an end to end opening 10 minutes, 18 year old Flanker Oscar Norton-Taylor opened the scoring in the first quarter. Stortford took the lead before Hitchin worked the ball wide for Xander Szanto to outstrip the defence. Szanto scored another early in the second quarter.
A typical man of the match performance from Simon Taylor, snaking and barraging his way through the midfield defence on several occasions. A site that is becoming a regular occurrence on a Saturday, and he earned himself two tries in this match.
Hitchin did leave several tries on the field though, missing out on a couple of 3 on 1 opportunities with passes not going to hand. But returning Scrum Half Ryan Godfrey scored the final try of the match to ensure Hitchin won all four quarters.
An all round a great start to the season with some strong evidence of the work put in in preseason and a snippet of how Hitchin want to play rugby this year.
